WASHINGTON, D.C. (December 22, 2015) – Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein & Fox P.L.L.C. is pleased to announce Eldora L. Ellison, Ph.D. has been named a “most valuable player” in Life Sciences by Law360. The annual list recognizes attorneys who have had successes in high-stakes litigation, record-breaking deals, and complex global matters over the past year.

In recognizing Dr. Ellison, the Law360 editors noted, “Eldora Ellison’s time in the laboratory has helped her score victories for biotechs and their cutting-edge treatments, making the Sterne Kessler Goldstein & Fox P.L.L.C. director a go-to patent litigator and earning her a spot on Law360’s list of 2015 Life Sciences MVPs.

A co-chair of the firm’s litigation practice, Dr. Ellison has represented clients in 55 inter partes reviews (IPRs) cases before the U.S. Patent Office Patent Trial and Appeals Board (PTAB). In one of her most recent cases, Dr. Ellison led Sterne Kessler’s longtime client ImmunoGen Inc. to a notable win by protecting its patent for a breast cancer treatment drug, Kadcyla.

When asked in a MVP profile interview about the legal landscape in the life sciences, Dr. Ellison remarked, “What I see in the future is an increasing need for lawyers that understand the IPR side of things and the prosecution side of things, so they can get strong patents for their clients, but also so they can advise their clients on how to defend against the challenges that will come. It’s important to be able to provide clients with 360-degree advice on all of the issues that may impact them.”

The MVP designation from Law360 follows other recent, notable recognitions of Dr. Ellison for her work as a formidable lawyer with valuable litigation expertise. The National Law Journal named her a “Litigation Trailblazer,” and she is consistently ranked as a “star” by Managing Intellectual Property and LMG Life Sciences.
