SWE 2019 Annual Conference

Patent Agent Karen Wong-Chan will be speaking at the upcoming SWE 2019 Annual Conference on November 7-9 in Anaheim, California. Karen’s session, titled “Technical Career 101: Starting, Taking a Break, and Restarting Tips,” will be on November 8 from 12:45 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Her session description is below:

We will discuss tips for managing your career through different stages. Many professionals take a break during their technical careers. Taking a break is not a fatal career step. We will discuss what you can do when starting your career to establish your reputation, grow your network, and make contributions to the success of your company and your professional community. We will discuss creative options for restarting your career after taking a career break. Some options include returning to the same field or same company, or starting in an adjacent/related field. With restarting options in mind, we will discuss what steps you can make before taking a break, and what you can do during your break to retain your technical jargon fluency. Deep technical knowledge and communication skills are valuable, and in demand. Restarting a technical career can be daunting. But, you are a technical professional – you can do this!
