Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein & Fox defended Block Inc. in a patent infringement litigation win in a case involving digital coupon software used in online transactions. The court granted the 101 motion put forward by the Sterne Kessler team. “We are pleased with the court’s decision to invalidate this patent and dismiss this suit,” a Block spokesperson said in a statement. “At Block, our work is grounded in economic empowerment, and we will continue to build technology to best serve our customers.” The team representing Block included: Directors Daniel Block, Chandrika Vira, Michael Specht, and William Milliken. The case is AuthWallet LLC v. Block Inc., S.D.N.Y., 1:21-cv-05463. The motion to dismiss was granted by the US District Court Southern District of New York on May 3, 2022.
