At last week’s INTA Annual Meeting, Sterne Kessler Counsel Lauriel Dalier moderated a discussion with Jason Lott, Managing Attorney for Trademarks Customer Outreach at the United States Patent and Trademark Office, on utilizing the USPTO’s new Federal Trademark Search System. The session included a live demonstration of how to use the new platform, including how to translate TESS searching practices into the new system’s syntax. The training covered excellent tips and tricks for making searches more efficient, navigating the search interface, using the drop-down menu, and field tag searching. Attendees were the first to learn about the new “search builder” feature, added by the USPTO in response to feedback requests.
The USPTO is planning more webinars to cover the “search builder” feature and other search enhancements. See https://www.uspto.gov/about-us/events/federal-trademark-searching-webinar-series for more information.
