Monica Riva Talley recently authored an article published in the Bloomberg BNA Patent, Trademark & Copyright Journal discussing the procedure for conducting due diligence on a company’s trademark assets. “Like a review of a company’s financial position, the trademark evaluation should provide both a tangible basis upon which to determine the value of the transferred assets and crucial information as to the strength of the company vis-à-vis its competitors,” said Ms. Talley. In the article she outlines how to identify trademark assets, analyze portfolios, and what other factors should be considered to determine the value of a company’s intellectual property assets.
