Overview

Kristofer R. Schroder is an associate in Sterne Kessler’s Biotechnology & Chemical Practice Group. His areas of technical expertise include genetics, molecular biology, recombinant DNA technology, and cancer biology. Kris assists in the preparation and prosecution of U.S. and foreign patent applications. He also assists in the preparation of freedom to operate and patentability opinions.

Kris received his J.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Law. While in law school, he worked for the University of Cincinnati’s Office of Innovation, where he assisted faculty and students of the university with various intellectual property matters. Kris also assisted a number of startups as a member of the University of Cincinnati’s Patent and Trademark Clinic and as an Intern at a Cincinnati-based accelerator. Kris served as both an Associate Editor and a Notes and Comments Editor for the University of Cincinnati Law Review. He published three articles analyzing recent patent law cases and their effect on the field.

Prior to law school, Kris obtained a B.S. in Biology and Agricultural Biotechnology and a M.S. in Medical Sciences from the University of Kentucky. During his graduate degree, Kris’s research focused primarily on the transcriptional regulation of genes within the liver.
