Pratibha Khanduri, Ph.D., is counsel in Sterne Kessler’s Biotechnology & Chemical Practice Group. Pratibha’s practice focuses on biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and chemical industries, and she is involved in all areas of patent procurement, exploitation, and enforcement. Pratibha has experience in patentability, validity, and infringement analyses of patents; post-grant proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board at the USPTO; and litigation, including cases involving Abbreviated New Drug Applications (ANDAs). Pratibha also has experience in freedom-to-operate analyses and patent prosecution.
Prior to joining Sterne Kessler, Pratibha was a law clerk and technical advisor at an intellectual property law firm. During law school, Pratibha was a judicial extern for the Honorable James P. Flannery at the Illinois Circuit Court of Cook County, Chicago and served as an associate editor for the Chicago-Kent Journal of Intellectual Property. In addition, Pratibha received the CALI award for the highest grade in Mediation and in International Intellectual Property Law.
Pratibha’s doctoral research focused on the role of p53 in the development and treatment of malignant melanomas. Pratibha’s primary technical areas include molecular biology, biochemistry, cancer biology, immunology, biologics, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, and clean technology.
Pratibha received her J.D. from the Chicago-Kent College of Law. She earned her Ph.D. in molecular genetics from the University of Illinois at Chicago and her Masters in biotechnology and her B.Sc. (Hons.) in human biology with Biochemistry major from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences.
