Roozbeh Gorgin is counsel in Sterne Kessler’s Electrical Practice Group. Roozbeh’s practice focuses on patent prosecution, patent strategy and portfolio development, intellectual property licensing, preparation of patent infringement and invalidity opinions, post-grant proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), intellectual property due diligence, and pre-litigation counseling. Roozbeh’s technical areas of expertise include mechanical devices, electronics, computer hardware and software, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning technologies, Internet technologies, cybersecurity, and wireless technologies.
In addition, Roozbeh works with Sterne Kessler’s Trademark & Brand Protection Practice on trademark clearance and prosecution. He also has experience obtaining copyright protection for creative works and representing clients in copyright disputes and litigation.
Prior to joining Sterne Kessler, Roozbeh practiced at boutique and multinational law firms representing clients in intellectual property litigation and prosecution matters, including representing both plaintiffs and defendants in intellectual property disputes before U.S. District Courts and the International Trade Commission (ITC) in addition to developing patent portfolios for automotive and navigation software clients.
Roozbeh also previously served as a law clerk to the Hon. James P. Donohue of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington and as a Judicial Extern for the Hon. Randall R. Rader of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Prior to law, Roozbeh worked as an engineer at eBay’s Shopping.com division.
Roozbeh received his B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles and his J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law. Roozbeh is admitted to practice in California and the District of Columbia and is also admitted to practice before the USPTO. Roozbeh is fluent in Farsi.
